 Sound Absorbers

Sound absorbing materials constitute a large and diverse class of noise reducing products. All such products are porous in structure. The ability of a material to absorb sound is determined by the balance between its porosity and airflow resistance. Too porous and the sound passes unimpeded while low porosity results in reflections. In instances where absorbers need to be protected from environmental problems, such as oil, dust, water, etc., a film or coating is applied to the surface, but in such a way as not to adversely affect sound absorption.

These materials, sold under the registered trademark Conasorb®, are available in many thicknesses and in rolls, sheets, die cut and water jet cut parts. When required, a pressure-sensitive adhesive backing or decorative wear-resistant cleanable facing is applied. We also make molded urethane foam parts.

Our absorbers are effective in absorbing sound energy in a wide range of equipment, such as engine compartments, construction, forestry and farm equipment, locomotives, subway cars.
