Blachford’s thermal insulation materials are utilized as stand-alone thermal insulating products or in combination with our acoustical products. These materials can be found inside cab walls to insulate the operator from the heat or cold; in the engine compartment to prevent excess heat from reaching critical components; or on various surfaces to protect the exterior finish.
Our thermal products include multi-layered composites based on foam, fiber or other specialized insulating materials. Custom designed thermal materials may include a radiant heat shield and/or various psa backings. When choosing a thermal product, some properties which should be taken into consideration are: temperature range of interest, thermal conductivity, thickness, flammability, moldability and cost.
Among other tools, Blachford engineers use a customized one-dimensional heat transfer model to select the correct Blachford thermal product for an application.
